MODERN RELIQUARY 1

MODERN RELIQUARY WALL SCULPTURES.  These devotional objects show reverence not to saints, but to modern martyrs and their survivors.  In this case, each of the 38 Special shell casings (from the guns historically associated with urban police forces) represent a questionable and/or highly contested shooting of an unarmed civilian within the U.S. They are purposely located in the heart of African-American female portrayed.     Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)MoreClick to print...

This mural/installation is in the public area of a renovated textile mill building now re-purposed into green luxury loft condominiums.  This water fountain is original to the mill and was purposely left as it was, a place where all the workers had gathered.
